Testimonials

Connie Whitcraft is more than a teacher to me—she is an inspiration, a dear friend, and a dedicated mentor that has helped me grow as a student, develop as a writer, and thrive as an independent individual. She fostered within me a love for writing, which has been transformative in my college experience. As a biomedical engineering student at UCLA, writing is a means of differentiating myself from others—a mode of expression that has not only made me a more eloquent person, but also a more discerning scientist. Connie Whitcraft has been, and always will be, a driving force in my life. Her unique blend of compassionate professionalism and thoughtful kindheartedness has truly changed my life for the better.

In a world that is often filled with undependable and lackluster businesspeople, Connie Whitcraft is a multi-talented pillar of professionalism, intellectual strength, and passion. Connie is a woman who gets things done. I have benefited from Connie's educational advisor and editing services. Over the past few years, I have witnessed her in action and have found her to be a compelling, highly intellectual business-minded professional. She has a keen knowledge of education, editing, book publishing, and she is one of the most successful networkers I have ever known.

I also find Connie's character to be highly noteworthy. She has incredible willpower, impeccable morals, and an amazing heart. She works 12-hour days, and yet still finds time to volunteer for numerous causes. She does pro-bono tutoring to help underprivileged children learn to read and write. She also volunteers at the Scripps Aquarium, the Monarch School, and the Carmel Valley Public Library. I can honestly say that I have never met an individual as committed to education as Connie Whitcraft.

Connie’s services are unique in their numbers. She appears to know the education and publishing industry inside and out. I believe that she could write her own book, edit it herself, publish it herself, and then teach a class with her book. Knowing her, when she was done she would teach educators how to teach her class, and then write a teacher’s manual to go with her book. There is no end with this woman, and maybe that is really what makes her so unique.

During my junior year in high school, I desperately needed a tutor who would help boost my SAT score a few hundred points. Although I contacted Connie Whitcraft only six months prior to my SAT date, she wholeheartedly helped me understand grammar and writing techniques. As opposed to many SAT tutors who point out tricks that the writers of the test use, Whitcraft taught me the reasoning behind every wrong answer that I made as well as my correct answers, usually provided to confuse students. After only six months of weekly studying with Whitcraft, my SAT score jumped over two hundred points and my writing greatly increased in my academic courses and journalism. I believe that with any other tutor, my SAT score might have improved; however, my overall performance in reading and writing would not have reaped the extra benefits that Whitcraft implemented in her teaching.

When we first went to Connie, my child was overwhelmed and lost. She had always been an excellent student. The challenge of Advanced Placement courses starting in the 10th grade was just too much for her to handle. I had heard about Connie through a friend. What we found was truly remarkable. Connie helped my daughter discover how to learn. That may sound odd, especially coming from top schools in San Diego County. Not only did Connie uncover what my daughter was lacking, but she also gave her the strength and tenacity to learn how to read, analyze, write, and uncover her true self. I felt like my daughter went to a life coach as well as an English tutor. She truly cared about my daughter.

I am proud to say that our daughter was accepted to several colleges and is currently attending Boston College. She is truly excelling. I can without a doubt say that I owe my daughter’s success to Connie. She gave my daughter the ingredients, confidence, and ability to soar and set the world on fire. Thank you, Connie. I don’t know where we would be without you! You are the epitome of what a teacher should be.

By the way, my daughter called from BC and told me that she wishes Connie was on campus!

“My children, Ben, David and Sarah G. have been tutored and coached by Connie for several years now. They have gained a great deal of confidence in their writing as well as in their ability to analyze literature. Connie makes learning fun.”

Connie Whitcraft tutored my son during high school for 3 years. The main goal was to prepare for college admission SAT exam. After studying with Connie, my son received an excellent SAT score (2240), which allowed his admission to all schools of his choice. While studying with Connie, he developed a love for writing–a process that he considered a torture before. Ability to express yourself through writing is a skill required in any profession, and Connie Whitcraft is a most suitable person to teach your child that.

Also, Connie Whitcraft assisted me in writing my resume while I was looking for a job. Working with Connie proved to be extremely useful in all aspects of writing a resume: summarizing my professional skills and experience, education, abilities and knowledge in a precise and clear manner, and choosing proper fonts and formats to emphasize important points, while keeping it readable and concise. We went through multiple rounds of discussions, revisions, and clarifications. I found a job very quickly. While discussing my resume during the interviews, it was always praised as highly informative, clear and well organized by all hiring professionals.

I first started with Connie to edit my personal statement that I intended to use for my application to get into a master program before applying to med school. Instead we completely changed the personal statement so that it highlights my other strengths to get into the program. At the end, I was able to attend the master program of my first choice.

John taught my AP Calculus and Business Statistics classes in college. I admire his teaching style and appreciate his willingness to go the extra mile in order to ensure the success of his students. He is the best teacher I’ve ever had.

John, my SDSU statistics course went from a D to a B+ because you were with me every step of the way.

Working with Ms. Whitcraft has been an incredible and intellectually stimulating experience. Not only was I able to master the SAT with her help, but I also became a much better writer overall. From the few months that I spent with Ms. Whitcraft, I was able to realize my potential as a student and learn to set goals and how to achieve them.
Thanks for the memories,

Connie Whitcraft helped me tremendously with my resume. It now looks professional. Connie looked at my degrees, classes and previous jobs and came up with job options that are interesting and ones I would never have thought of. She has given me more confidence in finding a new and better job.

Our son, Kyle, had problems reading. He also had problems in just about every subject, since reading is fundamental to nearly all subjects. He couldn’t spell or write at his grade level. He scored below average in the school standardized tests in elementary and middle school. None of his teachers, from Kindergarten to 7th grade, suspected Kyle had a dyslexic problem. He was treated by the school as a young kid that had reading problem. Even after attending supplemental reading classes at his schools, learning from computerized reading tools and attending professional tutoring provided by the school district,  his reading level did not improve appreciably.

Ms. Connie Whitcraft was recommended by a friend as a tutor.

Within the first meeting with Kyle, Ms. Whitcraft had a strong belief that Kyle was dyslexic. This is the first time this word was mentioned to us. Based on her advice, we had Kyle tested by both our health care provider and a special program at UCSD. Both tests confirmed Ms. Whitcraft’s sense that Kyle was dyslexic.

Connie worked with Kyle for a little over two years to complete the Barton Reading and Spelling  System. The results have been outstanding. His reading and writing scores on standardized tests have improved each year. But most importantly he is no longer struggling to understand what he reads.

One of the main reasons for Kyle’s success is his trust in Ms. Whitcraft. He listens, learns and follows her instructions without hesitation. He never complains about the extra learning time and homework.

There may be other learning programs or other dyslexic specialists, but Ms. Whitcraft cares about her students. Her students know and appreciate the caring, and therefore want to do well for her. We all appreciate Ms. Whitcraft’s dedication to help, and her big heart to love her students. I only wish we knew her a few years earlier, so Kyle would not have needed to struggle so much in school.

I was drowning in an ocean of English,
But you threw me a life line and I became captain of the ship.
You were my first mate on the voyage through English,
You were the winds that blew me towards shore,
And the compass that guided me there.
You helped me harpoon and capture the Moby Dick of writing.
You were the wheel that steered me through successful book analysis.
Even through a tempest of bad grammar, we conquered the seas,
And came to the clearing of sentence diagramming.
Now I love and understand the sea.
I love it because of the teacher that taught me.

Connie, you have been and will remain the best teacher, friend, and driving force in my life for English.
